I like how Peach goes la-la-la-la-la and skips before pulling out a golf club and beating the hell out of her opponents in Smash Bros. She deserves to be S-tier.

Alex Minecraft mentions redstone off-handedly one time in front of Luigi and he's like, "Oh? What's that?"

Cue Alex rambling on about redstone for a good while and then they go and build a bunch of piston doors.

I think I'm going to run with the idea that Dr. Mario and... regular Mario are separate people from separate universes, hence why they're different Smashers in Super Smash Bros.

Dr. Mario wasn't even supposed to be added to the roster; Crazy Hand snatched him up, thinking he was the regular Mario, only to find out "Oops! You're actually an entirely different person," hence why Dr. Mario didn't reappear in Brawl. Some missed him though, and after the events of Subspace Emissary, Master Hand began to care a lot more about the fighter's health, so he figured why not bring back the doc.

Backstory headcanons about Crazy Hand and Master Hand

1) The two were separate when they were "born," AKA basically materialized in some dimension.

1a) The dimension wasn't totally empty––it had objects and materials, but no living beings.

1b) As you might expect, Crazy Hand went on a destroying spree, finding fun in destroying whatever was around... until there was nothing left to destroy, and there was just the void.

1c) Master Hand, on the other hand (ba-dum-tss), went on a creating spree, loving the creativity and adrenaline rush that came with it... until he found himself absolutely surrounded by his own creations with basically no room to move about.

1d) Crazy Hand would roam in the dimension for a while until he found the strange conglomeration of things that imprisoned Master Hand. Crazy would go on to break Master Hand free, which led to their meeting.

1e) As a result of their origins, Crazy Hand has a hatred for being alone and "emptiness" in general, while Master Hand hates closed, tight spaces (although he won't admit to it).

2) Their relationship wasn't the best at first. Crazy Hand stuck around Master Hand because he didn't want to be alone, and Master Hand kept Crazy Hand around because he thought his destructive abilities were useful. Crazy Hand definitely cared more about Master Hand around this time than Master Hand did for Crazy.

3) Throughout the course of time, they would create and shape all that we see of the Smash dimension. By then they were aware of their ability to hop dimensions/universes and had gone to see some of what they had to offer. They had no interest in taking over any universes, though, mainly because while they were omnipotent in their dimension, they weren't in these other dimensions.

3a) It was through these universal watches that Crazy picked up the idea of brothers. He started calling and thinking of Master Hand as his bro, and eventually Master Hand returned the title "if only to appease [Crazy]." Again, not the greatest relationship.

4) Also because of the watches, Master Hand eventually came up with the idea to "collect" the legendary people of the dimensions as a means of adorning their own. Sometime during the Hands' "collecting," Crazy had the idea to pin them against each other in fights to see who the best legendary person was.

4a) After the fights of SSB64, Master Hand eventually found himself enjoying the idea of tournaments more so than having the heroes stay as statues. Thus began the Super Smash Bros./Brothers tournaments.

4b) (Even to this day they still argue over whether it's Super Smash Bros. or Super Smash Brothers.)

5) Although Master Hand did technically grow to care about Crazy during their time together, it wasn't really until Tabuu attacked when M. Hand realized he would be devastated if something bad were to happen to his brother. His attitude in general really took a turn for the better because of the incident.

6) M. Hand has tried really hard to involve Crazy more in the tournament (such as by letting him choose basically all the newcomers for SSBU). In general, M. Hand has tried to be there more for Crazy, to truly be a brother to him.

Wait. You can see Cappy in some of Mario's animations in SSBU.

That means there's a possibility Cappy was there during the Ridley reveal.

Although the Luigi Protection Squad remains strong, membership for the Mario Protection Squad has grown exponentially during the fifth tournament. Just like Luigi has no idea about the Luigi Protection Squad, Mario also has no idea about the Mario Protection Squad.

Mii Fighters headcanons/characterizations, because I've been thinking of them. I'll be using the names for them said in this post.

Shagekio

1) A nickname of hers is Kio.

2) She's sweet, but she won't let anyone take advantage of her. She's also one to love competition.

3) She met Kenjutsu and Kakuto while training under Matt's guidance. Kakuto and her clashed initially because they can both be stubborn (and they still do clash sometimes today), but they're good buds now.

4) She admires Samus a lot as a hero. Kio's arm cannon was inspired from Samus'.

5) Shagekio is a mechanic. She made improvements to the arm cannon from SSB4 to SSBU so that she wouldn't have to carry around that heavy ammo backpack anymore.

6) Likes explosives/explosions. Has definitely shot holes in roofs before.

Kenjutsu

1) A nickname of his is Ken.

2) He is a bit vain and also high-strung, but he gets the job done. Also very loyal.

3) He actually has a twin brother: Sordsman in this Tumblr post by Wii Facts Plus. Maybe we can call him Kenshi (which means swordsman)?

4) Although he's the most vain of the trio, he's also the most starstruck out of them all. Despite having already been in a game with a good chunk of the other fighters, he still acts awe-struck in their presence.

5) He also has his share of insecurities. He got really down in the dumps by Pit and Viridi's "funny-looking" comment.

Kakuto F.

1) A nickname of his is Kuto.

2) He's hot-headed and stoic, but he's got his soft side once you get to know him. (So he's mostly soft to Kio and Ken...)

3) Kakuto is odd in that he comes from a line of Miis that claimed each other as family, which as stated in a previous post is rare. Said line of Miis are known for their brawling skills, hence Kakuto's last name: Fighter.

3a) As one might expect, last names are not common in the Mii 'verse because families (especially multi-generational) are also not common.

4) He knows a variety of fighting styles, passed down the generations of his family... and he would use them all on whoever dares to hurt Pichu or any of the other small Pokémon.

5) Despite his grumpiness, he will voluntarily wear the Sans Creeper costume. All the non-Mii fighters don't understand this whatsoever.

Oh, and a general headcanon about them all: they're a throuple, all dating each other.

World of Light Headcanon:

As Mario was saved first by Kirby, he spent a long time worrying about Luigi and hoping he was okay, but tried to keep a strong façade as many of the fighters looked up to him, and they really needed somebody to keep their head up amid all the uncertainties. It isn't like the bros have never been separated, but Mario didn't know where Luigi was or how he was faring. It didn't help how Luigi had had the encounter with the Grim Reaper a little before the events of World of Light, and so Mario was still on edge from that as well.

When the two finally reunited, it was a rare scene of Mario crying and Luigi comforting him rather than the other way around. (Not that Luigi minded. Not at all.) (And okay maybe Luigi did cry a little.)

The Sun Rises

Haha, what if I wrote a fanfic over an even more obscure character?

Fandoms: Super Smash Bros., Minecraft

Summary: A lone butcher villager is all that remains of a plains village––until the fighters arrive. (A story about the butcher villager in the Minecraft World stage.)

Rating: Rated E10+ for Everyone Ten and Up

Warnings: Implications/references to death

Genres: Angst & Friendship

Word Count: ~1.2K

The Sun rises.

The butcher wakes up, ties their apron around their waist and leaves their modest house for the day. There are chores to be done: attend to the farmland, see to the livestock and clean up around the house.

Maintaining the farm area is the most strenuous chore: pulling up the weeds, digging up the carrots and potatoes and beetroot, cutting the wheat with a sickle the butcher occasionally sharpened on the old grindstone. The Sun is especially hot today, and sweat beads on their brow as they grab and cut through the wheat with a practiced hand. They can never be as good as the old farmers, but they have gone through the process enough.

A tied-up bundle of wheat in their arms, they make their way to the pens, humming softly to theirself to fill in the quiet. The baaing of sheep and mooing of cattle breaks the silence as the animals eagerly crowd the fence gate. The butcher weaves through the bunch and sets the wheat down in the middle of the pen. They allow theirself a moment to watch the livestock feed, patting those near the villager.

It is afternoon, now. The butcher pays no mind to the soot accumulating on their hands as they pick up the bones from the skeletons that burned once the sunlight shone. The bones crush easily in their calloused hands, and it doesn't take long to spread the bone meal on the crops. They leave the rotten flesh of the scorched zombies on the ground to decompose. They used to care about getting rid of it, but no longer.

They watch the Sun set through their browned glass window, fiddling with an iron nugget between their hands. Once the sky burns red, they go to bed.

They have nightmares of long-past events. They have dreams of what-ifs. They wake up, having already dreamed it all.

The Sun rises.

The undead burn as the butcher leaves their house, no longer able to be afraid, one reason or another. There is no wheat to cut––only some beetroots to uproot. After checking the animals, they cook the beetroots into a fine soup and relax on their house's stairs.

Then, there is a shout, a shout that bellows and booms across the plains to the mountains. "Kirby! Steve!"

On the worn path before the villager's house, two figures materialize: a short and pink mob the butcher has never seen before and one with dark brown skin and purple eyes. For whatever reason, the purple-eyed one is familiar to them.

"Three, two, one––go!"

The two clash, faster than the villager can process. They bob and weave, hit and slash, mine and build––until the taller one falls and the round one claps.

"Kirby wins!" The thunderous voice calls out before the two disappear just as quickly as they arrived.

The butcher drains the last of their soup and goes to bed. They are aware that they should care more about the peculiar situation they witnessed. They can't care regardless. They have a nightmare about zombies, about doors being broken down, about defenders falling.

The Sun rises.

The voice returns, announcing new names. "Captain Falcon! Lucina!" The butcher goes about their day, avoiding the area of trodden grass in front of their house as the two new ones engage in a fight. They walk closer to the old houses of the village as a result––much closer than they would prefer. The houses' cobwebs glisten from the shower during the previous night, and the butcher cannot help their gaze from wandering back to the decaying wood and crumbling stone. They remember names, one mentally attached to each and every dilapidated build. They wish they didn't.

The two are done by the time the butcher has finished their rounds, with the sword-bearer beaming victoriously before they both vanish. The villager worries the shinied iron nugget in their hands as they look to the sky. It is simmering into a deep orange, the ripe color for the undead to begin their prowl. They briefly consider staying outside, but decide against it as they head inside.

The Sun rises and rises and rises...

The fights continue, sometimes with new participants and sometimes old. The butcher gradually begins to watch the brawls, oohing at stylish moves and wincing at powerful hits. Still, they maintain their routine. They find a new path to take away from the rest of what was once a village. Life settles again into a groove the villager can follow through without much thought.

Then, it is shattered again when a fight ends, and yet the fighters don't disappear. The purple-eyed one helps their fallen combatant up, a yellow-furred and long-tailed creature, and then approaches the butcher sitting on the stairs.

The villager looks up. The purple-eyed one––Steve, the villager has been able to determine––shifts on their feet.

"Yes?" the villager ventures, their voice a croak from disuse.

"You..." Steve says, trailing off. "You seem lonely in this abandoned village."

The butcher cants their gaze down. "It wasn't abandoned."

The silence stretches. "Would you like to join us?" Steve asks. "For dinner, at least?"

The villager takes a single look across the entirety of the village: caved-in roofs, shattered windows, that still lingering scent of death. There is nothing for them here.

The villager nods and takes ahold of Steve's outstretched hand. A feeling of weightlessness overtakes the butcher, and their vision flashes into white until the colors drain back in to show a nicely decorated lobby, full of all the fighters. There is an enormous sound of chattering that fills up the entirety of the space as Steve leads them all to a dining room, and it continues on into the meal. The butcher listens to explanations, to stories, to singing, to laughing, and it is all beautifully loud. The villager laughs theirself, when they can't even recall the last time they did.

Dinner is eventually finished, and the villager is brought back to their house. "Would you want to join us tomorrow?" Steve asks as the Sun sets.

The butcher nods, a hole in their chest filling in. "Yes, I would."

The Sun rises.

The villager learns new names and new faces, all of them happy to greet the butcher when they arrive to the Smash Mansion. The villager creates grand meals for the fighters, finding the fun in cooking for others once again. They talk. They laugh. They find happiness again. They finally cry and let theirself grieve.

Eventually, they find theirself at the livestock's pen. It only takes one swing of an axe to break down the gate and let the animals out. The livestock graze as the villager takes the last of their belongings from their old house, taking care to close its door gently. They let out a breath as they look at the house one last time. Then, they turn around and grab Steve's hand as the two vanish, returning back home to the mansion.

The Sun sets.

How Mario's gonna get hurt in the next fighter reveal prediction:

The next fighter is Bandana Waddle Dee. They're cheerfully saying hi to everybody as their friends congratulate them. They don't look behind them as they position their spear over their shoulder, and unintentionally poke Mario who was walking up to say hi to them. It was a weak poke and Mario only gave a quiet "ow," but Bandana Waddle Dee still profusely apologizes with teary eyes.

A couple Mii headcanons

  • Miis aren't born; they just appear from time to time. Miis have tried to figure out if there's a pattern for when Miis spawn, but it seems completely random.
  • Because of this, familial relations are rare. The most common occurence is when two Miis spawn at the same time and claim that they are siblings. Not all Miis that spawn in pairs do this, though.
  • Acting is huge in the Mii 'verse. Miis love watching reenactments of other heroes' adventures in other 'verses, whether it's a play or TV show.
  • Smash is widely popular in the Mii 'verse. You could ask someone random who their favorite fighter is and probably receive an answer. Many have one of the Mii Fighters as their fave.
  • Master Hand now also holds polls in the Mii 'verse to see who they think should be in Smash.

I found this blog on Tumblr similar to Supper Mario Broth called Wii Facts Plus that compiles information on the Wii/Mii series of games.

They have a particular post that actually explains what the names of the Mii Fighters of SSBU are, which answers a question I had about what they should be called!

So Mii Brawler is Kakuto F.,

Mii Swordfighter is Kenjutsu,

and Mii Gunner is Shagekio!

Reasons Bandana Waddle Dee should be made a fighter in Smash

  1. They're just a funky little guy.
  2. Seriously, look at their face. Could you say no to a cute face like that that craved violence?
  3. They main a spear which I think is pretty unique compared to all the sword anime guys like Steve and Alex Minecraft.
  4. It'd be hilarious if Bandee ended up a high tier. Imagine a cute little Waddle Dee absolutely annihilating everyone in his path.

Actually, since I've been thinking of the Miis lately, here's a discussion: are the Mii Fighters from SSB4 the same as the ones from SSBU?

I'm gonna be talking a lot about the appearances of the Miis, so I'll link their SmashWiki articles which have a photo for them.

Mii Gunner: SSB4 / SSBU

Mii Brawler: SSB4 / SSBU

Mii Swordfighter: SSB4 / SSBU

So now with those images in mind, we notice the appearance for the Miis are different... and yet very similar. Without considering the shift from a more cartoony to realistic look, we notice that the hairstyles/(some) eyebrow styles and clothes are different (as well as some difference in the exact shade of hair color for Gunner and Swordfighter). Otherwise? They have the same eye/face shape and noses. Notice that the differences are things that can change easily with time, but the similarities are things not so easily changed. Some of the differences, like eyebrow style and hair color, can also be said as a result of the shift to realism style change.

To me, I think they could be the same Miis, just with more years to them; that is, from SSB4 to SSBU, some time passed and so the Miis grew up a bit. The SSB4 Miis just give me the impression that they are a younger version of the SSBU Miis. Of course, the SSB4 Miis probably appear younger because of their more cartoony style. Still, that doesn't disqualify this interpretation.

Another thing pointing to the possibility that they aren't different Miis is that they seem to be the default Miis one might be familiar with. These Miis have the designation of "Guest," according to the WiiSports Fandom Wiki, and the Wiki also says that Mii Gunner appears similar to Guest F, Mii Brawler to Guest C and Mii Swordfighter to Guest B. The fighters being the default Miis also makes sense for their role in Smash. They are meant to be blank canvases for the player to customize as desired.

Of course, one could also interpret them just as that––not so much as characters as they are dolls/action figures. That is also a valid interpretation; I just prefer them being actual characters rather than puppets of a sort.

If we do decide to see them as characters, then, that leads to another question... What should their names be?

Some Mii headcanons!

(Serious injury mention in first bullet point.)

  • Sometime before SSB4, Mii Gunner got into a freak accident that resulted in her losing her arm. During the adjustment period after, Matt (the one from Wii Sports and other titles) served as her physical therapist. She now really admires Matt and looks up to him.
  • Matt trained all the Mii Fighters (Mii Gunner, Brawler and Swordfighter) and recommended them to Master Hand for SSB4. Matt was really proud to see them return in SSBU.
  • Miis love to wear costumes––the sillier the better! It is also very common for a Mii to have wildly different attire from day to day––they could be goth one day then prep the next.
  • All Miis' voices are monotone and tend to have very little emotion, and muteness/nonverbality/semiverbality is pretty common among Miis. Miis are therefore way more reliant on facial expressions than non-Miis in order to determine how others are feeling, so Miis tend to exaggerate expressions more.
  • Miis thus have a really hard time trying to read other non-Miis, and it takes a really long time for them to get the hang of which tones equal which emotions.
  • It is common knowledge in the Mii 'verse that other 'verses exist. It's very common for Miis to visit these other 'verses, even if it's just to observe the current adventure.
  • Mii Swordfighter was the one who thought up the Sans Creeper costume. All the Miis involved in Smash love it. Opinions widly vary among the non-Mii fighters (they tend to lean toward the negative, however).
